Scorchers start year on winning note
The Perth Scorchers have notched up their second win of the Big Bash season defeating the Brisbane Heat by 40-runs on the Gold Coast.
Fawad Ahmed proved the difference with three wickets in defending the Heat target to win of 150 while spin twin Ashton Agar also claimed a double.
Perth went back to the successful game plan of winning the toss and batting first then relying on their bowlers to defend whatever total they posted.
Cameron Bancroft belted 50 from 42 balls and a cameo from skipper Mitch Marsh (26 off 19) propelled the visitors to 6-149.
Early wickets to Jhye Richardson, Agar and Chris Jordan put the Heat on the back foot early in their chase as they slumped to 3-21.
Ahmed played a crucial role in the middle overs showing why the Scorchers were attracted to recruit him as he dismissed Ben Cutting (1), the dangerous Chris Lynn (14) and Mark Steketee (13).
The Heat stumbled their way to 109 and all out in the 19th over.
