Scorchers winning streak over
The Perth Scorchers have been brought back to earth suffering a 34-run loss to the Sydney Thunder.
Perth won and the toss and surprisingly chose to bowl first going again the grain of the side putting runs on the board.
The Thunder went onto post 7/200 anchored by Englishman Sam Billings who bashed 67 off 35 balls.
Matt Kelly was the star of the ball for the Scorchers (3/30) replacing import Tyman Mills who was rested from the clash.
The chase started poorly for the visitors who lost Josh Inglis without scoring and Mitch Marsh a short time later for just 6.
Colin Munro was the pick of the batters knocking up an unbeaten 64 from 33 balls while AJ Tye belted 44 off 25 balls as the Scorchers reached 8/166 at the close of innings.
“Obviously it’s disappointing to be on the receiving end of that result, it’s a new experience this campaign but we knew it was going to come eventually,” Skipper Ashton Turner told Channel 7.
“We don’t want to be peaking in round six, we know there’s a lot of cricket to be played so we’ll pick ourselves and we’ll be fine.”
Perth play the Melbourne Stars at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night.
