Sharks to call WACA ground home

East Fremantle will play home games at the WACA Ground for the next two WAFL seasons.

The Sharks are moving home whilst East Fremantle Oval undergoes redevelopment.

As part of the WACA Ground Improvement Project the famous grass banks at the Ground are currently being excavated, to lengthen the oval and accommodate the return of WAFL games and other sports, creating a multi-use venue.

WAFL games were last played at the WACA Ground in 1994 when East Fremantle played West Perth in a qualifying final.

East Perth used it as their home ground in the late 1980s for two seasons and both WA AFL teams played home games at the Ground in the late 1990s.

EFFC CEO Todd Shimmon said they were looking forward to playing home games at the WACA.

“The WA Cricket team have been very accommodating in inviting football back to the WACA Ground, and we look forward to a positive partnership for both parties over the next two years.”
