Soft tissue injuries hamper Giants

2005 Swans premiership player and now Giants assistant coach Adam Schneider believes large amounts of soft tissue to players will be the cost of a condensed season.

Speaking on #SportsLine Schneider believes players are not getting enough time to recover.

"Personally I do yeah (believe soft tissues will be a cost of a shorter season), I did 18 over my career so I can't really talk about whats right or wrong but yeah the hard breaks are short on the players and the body, they say shorter games but then it's more high intensity running and it seems to be the injury of the year. There's no doubt players are not having the opportunity to rest and recover as quick because what we have to do to keep the game going." Schneider said.

The Giants lost Toby Greene in the first quarter and Matt DeBoer in the last during their victory over the Gold Coast Suns on Sunday.

Schneider said the players adapted well to losing a rotation off the bench.

"You can't replace Toby especially first quarter of the game, I think he had six touches in the first 10-minutes that he was out there."

"As a coaching group and as players you've quickly got to move on there's no point dwelling on it, you have little plans going into the game if one goes down out of rotation and the boys did well being one down."

Greene is expected to miss one to two weeks while DeBoer could be on the sidelines for up to three weeks.

The Giants take on Essendon on Friday night at Metricon Stadium.
