Star Magpie signs long term deal

Dual All-Australian ruckman Brodie Grundy has resisted the lure of free agency, signing a seven year deal to remain a Magpie until the end of the 2027 season.
The 25 year old was set to become a free agent at the end of this coming season and had been linked with a return to his native South Australia, but will now likely see out his career in black and white.
Grundy is likely to earn close to one million dollars per year over the seven years of his contract, according to reports.
It is the longest contract ever signed by a Collingwood player, the dual reigning Copeland Trophy winner becoming the fifth player in the past two years to sign a seven year deal, along with Dustin Martin, Lachie Whitfield, Stephen Coniglio and Tom Lynch.
Grundy wrote on Twitter "Love this club. Love this group. Magpie Army, I’ve signed on." to confirm the contract extension this morning.
