Highly experienced and award-winning journalist John Townsend has joined Perth's Sports Leader 91.3 SportFM.
Townsend already contributes to SportFM programmes on a weekly basis on-air and will now enhance the station's digital platforms off-air by using his writing skills.
Having covered the WAFL competition for over a decade, 100 plus Test matches and three winning World Cup campaigns since 1999 Townsend's resume speaks for itself.
The WA Media Guild President will write weekly columns beginning in February including the renowned "Wednesday WAFL" when the season for 2022 begins that will be published at sportfm.com.au.
Townsend will be the first to break stories on-air throughout SportFM's flagship programs Sports Breakfast, SportsLine & Sports Drive and will play an integral role in SportFM's Saturday morning footy show "Before the Footy" due to return in April.
