Turner dropped for Shield clash

WA skipper Ashton Turner will not face Victoria in Saturday's Sheffield Shield against Victoria.

Turner has been in a horrible run of form averaging just 3.5 this season.

In-form batsman Shaun Marsh will captain WA in Turner's absence.

WACA General Manager of High Performance Kade Harvey told SportsLine Turner's decision was of a team first approach.

“By his own admission he felt it (his form) wasn’t going to turn around this game,” Harvey said.

“It’s a really selfless mindset I think to know it probably wasn’t a great move to be on that plane.

Harvey also confirmed Jake Carder will face a fitness Test for the clash against Victoria after suffering spilt webbing in the right hand whilst fielding in the recent match at the WACA.

Marcus Stoinis will not bowl in the match suffering from a bruised heel and WA are likely to play an extra bowler in Melbourne.
