WA score quinella in All-Star Mile

WA owned Bob Peters has claimed the quinella in the $5million all-star mile at Caufield.

Willie Pike rode home Regal Power to victory while stable mate Superstorm run second.

Peters watched the race in Perth after a lock out was announced on Friday for non-essential race day personnel.

Pike who had not ridden a winner in 36 attempts on Victorian metro courses said he was thrilled with the result.

“I’m thrilled. I’m very happy. I wasn’t at my best last start so this goes some way toward atoning for that. This horse has been so good to me,” Pike said.

“The way he keeps finding good horses year after year, Mr Peters keeps us all in form and keeps us looking good,”

“The Williams camp, I think right now the way they’re training, there’s no one training better than them.”

Peters who was at Ascot to watch to see his filly Tuscan Queen win the Natasha Stakes reflected on the performances in the All-Star Mile.

“When I sat down and thought about it, the both beat nine Group 1 winners home at weight-for-age so it was a great result for us,” Peters said.

Favourite Alligator Blood will be sent for a spell after weakening in the straight to finish 10th.
