West Perth, Joondalup United form cross-code partnership

In what is being labeled as a 'unique collaboration', West Perth Football Club and Joondalup United Football Club have signed an official partnership.

Sport FM understands the cross-code deal would see the sharing of facilities and ideas with both senior clubs hosting home-fixtures at Arena Joondalup (Pentanet Stadium) permanently from next season, with a view to expand the partnership in the coming years.

Joondalup United once called Joondalup Arena home but a change in circumstances saw them

relocate in the late 2000's.

The club's struggle to find a suitable home was compounded by their fall from Football West's top flight in 2018.

West Perth have also had their share of recent struggles, with the WAFL club going administration in 2018.

“WPFC is excited to see how this relationship evolves. Joondalup United is an important part of the local community and has been struggling with facilities for a long time. We welcome all their fans to Pentanet Stadium for what will be a great display of sports working with sports,” said WPFC CEO Joe McCarthy in a statement

“JUFC would like to thank West Perth Football Club for their partnership and giving our club an opportunity to build on. We would also like to thank VenuesWest for their support in making this one off game a reality with the hope of a positive future,” said JUFC President Ghaz Ramli.

To celebrate the deal West Perth will play co-host at Pentanet Stadium as Joondalup United take on Subiaco AFC on Saturday 22 July as part of Round 17 of the Football West First Division.
