Wildcats hang on to defeat Breakers

Big man Miles Plumlee has led the Perth Wildcats to a thrilling 80-79 win over the New Zealand Breakers.

The American import put on a record breaking display becoming the first Wildcat to score more than 20-points and grab more than 15-rebounds.

He finished with 23-points and 17-rebounds plus two blocks, two assists and a steal.

Nick Kay was also a big player in the game scoring 20-points while Bryce Cotton scored 23-points.

New Zealand fought back from 10-points down in the final quarter and had the chance to win the game after turning a Wildcats ball over but failed to get a shot away.

Coach Trevor Gleeson was impressed with the performance.

"It was a good tough game. It was a playoff game. It was physical. Play after play of getting made at both ends of the court," Gleeson said.

"New Zealand are extremely well coached and they played their hearts out."

Perth travel to Melbourne next to take on United on Wednesday.
