Wildcats pinch home court thriller

The Wildcats have produced a stunning finish to record a come from behind 77-71 win over the Illawarra Hawks.

Perth trailed late in the game by five-points but three-pointers from Bryce Cotton, Luke Travers and Corey Webster all inside the final three minutes of the game put the team on the right side of the ledger.

On a sour note to the victory boom recruit TaShawn Thomas injured his ankle during the opening minutes of the match after landing on the foot of Hawks big man Sam Froling.

Cotton had a quiet night scoring just 13-points while Luke Travers stood up scoring 14-points, seven rebounds and four assists while vice-captain Mitch Norton also scored 14-points.

Coach John Rillie said post-game he was pleased with the side's ability to find a way in the second half.

"I won't say I feel like we pinched one because we're playing at home and we're a good team, but the Hawks really showed they are a great opponent," Rillie said.

"We knew what we were up against and the pleasing thing was we held them to 22 in the second half even though we couldn’t really get any momentum. But our defence allowed us to find a way at the end of the day."

Perth now take on Cairns on Monday night in North East Queensland.
