Wildcats to start season at home

The Perth Wildcats will commence their NBL21 campaign at RAC Arena in round two on Sunday January 24th, the NBL has confirmed on Tuesday.

Perth will host the South East Melbourne Phoenix in a 2PM WST tip-off match as part of the revised round two fixture, their first day out of a state government imposed 14 day quarantine having returned from Queensland over the weekend.

The New Zealand Breakers will also play their first game of the season in round two, heading to Adelaide to play against the 36ers at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Friday January 22nd.

The round commences on Wednesday January 20th with the Phoenix playing Adelaide at the same venue, before heading to Perth to face the reigning champions.

“We’re pleased to be able to announce the next round of our schedule and stage the first home game in Perth for the NBL’s reigning champions, the Perth Wildcats," NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said.

“Fans across the Tasman can also look forward to watching the SKY Sport New Zealand Breakers open their season against Adelaide. Cairns will host two games against Sydney and Melbourne and Brisbane will play its second home game against The Hawks.

“We will continue to assess the situation over the coming weeks and be guided by the advice of the states as we schedule more games as part of our rolling schedule this season. As soon as restrictions ease we hope to be in a position to be able to also schedule games in Victoria and New South Wales.”

The season starts this Friday night with Adelaide hosting Melbourne at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Brisbane to play Illawarra on Saturday night at Nissan Arena.
