South Fremantle 19.11 (125) def. West Coast 10.4 (64)

Round 6 of the WAFL season started with the Bulldogs dominating the Eagles in a 61-point blowout at home.

Four goals in the second quarter brought the away side within eight points at the half, but an eight-goal surge from the Dogs left the Eagles in the dust – a further five in the last quarter putting the final nails in the coffin.

Despite only six less entries than South Fremantle, the Eagles couldn’t convert their ball movement into goals with the home side’s defence proving too strong on the day.

Cooper Clarke-Dehring bagged five goals and Jordan Bollineau got the better of his matchup with Sandy Brock who couldn’t keep him from scoring three majors.

South Fremantle produced seven multiple goal kickers over the weekend – Samuel Otto kicking his first goal in league footy and finishing up with two.

Perth 8.11 (59) def by. Claremont 17.9 (111)

Claremont looked ruthless on the road in a 52-point victory over Perth, now tightening their grip on the top spot with a perfect record to start 2026.

The Tigers kept Perth to just five points in the last quarter, adding another five goals themselves to boost their percentage to 194.5.

The Demons’ ruck duo won the contest in the middle – Zac Harding and Joshua Edwards combining for 42 hitouts – but it was Claremont’s rovers that made it tough for Perth to convert.

Co-captain Bailey Rodgers had 27 touches, hitting the scoreboard twice and producing eight entries.

An even inside-50 count gave Perth the chances they needed to produce scores, but Claremont’s defence held up well and denied scoring opportunities throughout all four quarters.

East Perth 8.8. (56) def by. Peel Thunder 9.8 (62)

Peel Thunder held off East Perth to defeat the Royals on the road by a goal, now stringing two wins in a row and sitting in third.

The stat sheet showed a close contest throughout the duration of the game with the scoreboard reflecting it, but it was the Thunder’s experienced players in their Dockers listees that might have given them the edge they needed to get over the line.

Jeremy Sharp notched up 37 touches on his return from the AFL, Nathan O’Driscoll and Oscar McDonald holding up the backline with strength – both taking eight marks.

Angus Scott and Hamish Brayshaw continue to lead from the midfield for East Perth, helping the team produce four multiple goal kickers for the day.

With Peel now in third and the Royals in fourth, there’s tight competition between third and seventh on the ladder – percentage the only thing separating five teams heading into round 7.

Swan Districts 16.9 (105) def. East Fremantle 9.9 (63)

Swan Districts got off to a blistering start in their round 6 clash with East Fremantle, kicking six goals in the first term with 100% accuracy to set themselves up for a big win at home.

A further five in the second term saw them with 70 points at halt time – the Sharks performing better in the second half to slightly alleviate the scoreboard damage.

Kyle Baskerville (34 disposals), Zachary Rankin (31 disposals) and Jack Cleaver (27 disposals) were doing everything they could in the middle with help from Luke Strnadica, winning the ruck contest and recording 32 hitouts.

East Fremantle’s forward line couldn’t hit the scoreboard despite more entries, and instead it was the Swans who were able to capitalise off their chances; Jovan Petric kicked four goals, William Reidy three goals, Jack McLachlan and Caleb Ernst two goals.

It was the Swans second win of the season, jumping them above the Sharks into eighth.

West Perth 7.10 (52) def by. Subiaco 15.9 (99)

West Perth continue to struggle to get their season started, recording their sixth straight loss for the year after Subiaco defeated them by 47 points.

7.1 in the first quarter for the Lions saw the Falcons struggle to close the gap for the remainder of the match.

Strong ruckwork from Coen Livingstone and Riley Sprigg for West Perth was no threat for Subiaco’s elite midfield craft who were able to give their forwards 15 more entries than the Falcons.

Tyler Keitel kept the Falcons competitive on the scoreboard kicking four majors which could’ve been eight if it weren’t for inaccuracy.

Ben Sokol was outstanding for the away side, taking nine marks and booting five majors while it was Jaxon McGowan who rose above the rest in the midfield (33 disposals, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 3 inside 50s).
