CLAREMONT 10.9 (69) def. EAST PERTH 0.2 (2)

Premiership favourites Claremont were just too strong for East Perth, beating them by 67 points at Revo Fitness Stadium.

East Perth simply were outplayed by a more experienced Claremont outfit, with miserable conditions, doing absolutely nothing to help them on Saturday afternoon. 

A five-goal first term from Claremont set the tone early, with East Perth unable to get on the scoreboard until the second quarter. One more scoring opportunity for the Royals came in the fourth quarter, but once again, only managing a behind.

Claremont duo Juliet Kelly (48 disposals, 10 tackles, one goal) and Matilda Sergeant (44 disposals, six tackles, four inside 50s) tore the Royals apart and were damaging with ball in hand. 

Other notable performances from Claremont include Sarah Viney (27 disposals, five inside 50s) and Savannah Muir-Thompson (2 goals, 10 disposals). 

For East Perth, Jess Verbrugge’s solid form continued, with 16 disposals, nine tackles and five marks, while Hayley O’Donnell (15 disposals, four tackles) and Charli Bassett (12 disposals, eight tackles) also provided some support. 

PERTH 8.3 (51) def by. WEST PERTH 8.8 (56)

West Perth just scraped over the line against Perth over the weekend, securing a five-point win against the bottom-ranked side. 

However, Perth continue to inch closer to their elusive first win, after recording their highest total (51) in history on the weekend. 

And it looked like their win may have finally arrived, with Perth leading 8.3 (51) to 6.5 (41) heading into the final term, but West Perth held firm, denying them opportunities to hit the scoreboard. 

Ex-Eagle Emily Bennett was the Falcons’ best, picking up 24 disposals, eight tackles and six inside 50s for her side. 

She was assisted by Lexi Strachen (20 disposals, seven inside 50s) and Megan Norbury (16 disposals, five marks) throughout the day. Sara Riou also kicked three goals, while Hayley Bidefield (13 disposals, eight tackles) brought plenty of defensive pressure. 

For the visitors, Molly Warne dominated the ruck battle with 36 hitouts, which midfielders Isabella Shannon (28 disposals, one goal, 12 tackles) and Gemma Dix (26 disposals, five tackles) benefited from.

SOUTH FREMANTLE 6.3 (39) def by. SWAN DISTRICTS 8.5 (53)

Swan Districts kept a relentless South Fremantle outfit at bay, securing a 14-point win on Sunday at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. 

The defensive efforts from both sides were off the charts, with six players laying over 10 tackles. Four of those players were Bulldogs, but that was not enough to hold back the visitors, who led at every break. 

AFLW fans were treated to a battle between two of WA’s brightest prospects – Swan Districts’  

Carys D’Addario (23 disposals, nine tackles), who was sensational as always, and Renee Morgan, who laid a game-high 17 tackles.  

Jaime Henry (19 disposals, 12 tackles) and Naomi Baker (16 disposals, 13 tackles) also gave strong performances to see the Swans over the line.

Meanwhile, Tahleah Mulder (22 disposals, 14 tackles), Bailey Hurt (16 disposals, 15 tackles) and Hannah Burt (17 disposals, 13 hitouts) were solid in defeat for South Fremantle..

Swans’ Taylah Edwards and Bulldogs’ Zoe Huggett kicked four and three goals respectively to put them neck-and-neck in the WAFLW leading goalscorers race, each on 13.

SUBIACO 13.6 (84) def. PEEL 0.1 (1)

It was a difficult day out for Peel Thunder, as Subiaco handed them an 83-point thrashing at Sullivan Logistics Stadium. 

After coming off a draw last weekend, Subiaco simply outmuscled Peel across the ground, holding them to one rushed behind across the four quarters. 

Subiaco’s midfielders showed their class once again, with Krstel Petrevski (36 disposals, five tackles), Paige Sheppard (32 disposals, five inside 50s) and Lisa Steane (29 disposals, nine marks) having an outstanding game.

Aimee Schmidt and Olivia Wolmarans were phenomenal up forward, booting three goals each, while Charlotte Tompkin kicked two. 

For Peel, Chloe Wrigley (26 disposals, four marks) and Ebony Dowson (22 disposals, eight marks) can hold their heads high.
