SUBIACO 5.10 (40) def. SWAN DISTRICTS 3.1 (19)

An undefeated Subiaco showed why they’re perched at the top, taking out a comfortable 21-point victory against the third-placed Swan Districts.

Despite having a huge lead, Subiaco’s inaccuracy stopped it from becoming a major blowout, kicking 5.10, while Swan Districts took advantage of the limited scoring opportunities they had, kicking 3.1.

Midfield trio of Paige Sheppard (23 disposals, seven inside 50s), Lisa Steane (23 disposals, five tackles) and Krstel Petrevski (21 disposals, two tackles) had a quiet day for their standards, but were among Subiaco’s finest.

Charlotte Tompkin also played well, snagging two goals for herself.

Both sides missed key talents for National Academy duties this weekend, with the Swans appearing to be hit harder, losing Carys D’Addario, who has been in phenomenal form.

With Jaime Henry also out, Isabella Edgley stepped up in their absence, racking up a game-high 24 disposals, four tackles and two marks. Tamzyn Beros and Indiana West also brought plenty of defensive grunt, finishing on 14 disposals and 9 tackles each.

SOUTH FREMANTLE 1.8 (14) def. WEST PERTH 1.4 (10)

South Fremantle just inched over the line against West Perth in a low-scoring tussle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday afternoon.

West Perth were unable to keep their four-game winning streak intact, and the battle for fourth became more complicated with the win putting them level on five wins each.

Each side managed just one goal courtesy of Zoe Huggett and Lexi Stratchen, a sign of the intensity and non-stop pressure brought by each side. In the end, it was four behinds the difference, with both sides left to rue their missed scoring opportunities – West Perth moreso.

Bailey Hunt (28 disposals, five marks) and Tahleah Mulder (23 disposals, six tackles) gave notable performances for the winning side, while Jessica Watts and Hunter Cronin also gave solid performances.

For West Perth, Madison Dodd (23 disposals, six marks) and Megan Norbury (22 disposals, seven marks) won plenty of the ball. Emily Bennett and Taylor Ferguson also played well.

CLAREMONT 8.10 (58) def. PEEL THUNDER 2.5 (17).

Claremont has received a healthy percentage boost against Peel Thunder after locking away a 41-point win at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.

Although the ladder placement doesn’t reflect it, Peel has been competitive, but not enough to deliver the final knockout blow and secure more wins this season; however, on this occasion, an undefeated Claremont side was just too good.

Sarah Viney and Matilda Sergeant were outstanding for Claremont, combining for eight inside 50s and 11 tackles, with 25 disposals each.

The Tigers also had a trio of scorers with two goals each in Rachel Ortlep, Laura Cinanni and top age AFLW draft talent Ella Gilbey.

For Peel, Chloe Wrigley and Charlie Fletcher lead the charge with 21 disposals and eight tackles each.

Both Ebonys – Bilcich (19 disposals, five inside 50s) and Dowson (17 disposals, four marks) provided crucial backup, the latter rewarded with a goal.

EAST FREMANTLE 4.10 (34) def. PERTH 3.2 (20)

East Fremantle shook off a building Perth side to come away with a 14-point victory over the weekend at The Good Grocer Park.

While the Demons still search for their maiden win, they’re doing plenty right to remain competitive against more established sides, even leading the Sharks at half time, and almost matching them in inside 50s.

But the Sharks’ hunger to keep their finals hopes alive got them over the line, limiting Perth’s scoring opportunities to 5, while compensating for their own inaccuracy.

Noa McNaughton looked threatening, with 17 disposals and 10 tackles, while also having support from Sarah Wielstra (16 disposals, seven inside 50s) and Anjelique Raison (16 disposals, one goal).

Defender Maya Louvel-Finn (14 disposals, six tackles) keeps delivering each week, with another stellar performance down back.

Perth’s Isabella Shannon had leather poisoning after notching up 32 disposals and six inside 50s, with Mia Carlshausen, Holly Britton and Jasmine Single also playing well. Tayla Strickland was also key up forward, booting two of Perth’s three goals, Mel Grace kicking the other.

East Perth had the bye this week.
