WEST COAST 9.6 (60) def by. PERTH 14.14 (98)

Perth has downed West Coast, coming away with a 38-point win in a close, scrappy battle at Mineral Resources Park.

The Lathlain co-tenants brought pressure and intensity early on, but it was Perth who broke the game open in the third term, kicking six goals to seal the result.

West Coast didn’t have an answer for the dynamic duo of Brandon Parfitt (30 disposals, seven tackles, one goal) and Charlie Constable (40 disposals, eight inside 50s, one goal), who arguably had season-best outings.

Young forward Lochlan Paton had a great day on the scoreboard, kicking three majors, while teammate Aaron Clarke booted two.

Ruck Joshua Edwards (37 hitouts, 13 disposals, 10 tackles) also gave a notable performance.

West Coast fans will be pleased to see Midseason draftees Tom McCarthy and Jacob Newton kick their first goals in blue and gold, while fringe Eagle Jack Petrucelle kicked two.

As usual, Clay Hall (30 disposals, six inside 50s) made another case for AFL selection, while Tom Gross (23 disposals, two tackles) and Harley Sparks (22 disposals, five tackles) racked up plenty of the ball.

WEST PERTH 8.7 (55) def by. EAST FREMANTLE  13.16 (94)

East Fremantle spoiled West Perth’s day of celebration for a club veteran with a 39-point victory at HIF Health Insurance Oval.

Falcons’ veteran Shane Nelson celebrated his 250th game, but the Sharks had another agenda in mind, keen to bounce back from a disappointing loss in last weekend’s Fremantle Derby.

Although the scores were basically level at quarter time, East Fremantle ran away with the game in the second quarter and didn’t look back until the final siren.

Sharks Star Milan Murdock rebounded from a quiet game last weekend to have 29 disposals, six tackles and a goal. Tom Joyce and Jack Cleaver also notched up 29 touches and were among the Sharks’ best.

Cody Leggett (16 disposals, 8 marks) and Mitchell Zadow (15 disposals, six marks) also impressed, slotting three goals each and having an impact away from the scoreboard.

For West Perth, Shane Nelson showed his class in a 28-disposal game, while Zac Guadagin (30 disposals, 8 marks) and Aaron Black (28 disposals, six inside 50s) were also strong through the middle.

Jack Demarte and Zak Patterson also hit the scoreboard twice for the Falcons.

SUBIACO 11.10 (64) def by. CLAREMONT 11.10 (76)

Claremont clawed its way to victory as it took a 12-point win over Subiaco in the battle of the big cats this weekend.

A lowly Subiaco side put up more of a fight than Claremont had bargained for, striking hard in the third quarter to take a two-point lead into the final quarter. But ultimately, Claremont was just too strong and came away on top.

Jye Bolton was everywhere, finishing on 39 touches, while Bailey Rogers (27 disposals, one goal, five marks) and Ben Elliot (26 disposals, seven tackles, one goal) battled hard against a potent Subiaco midfield.

Up forward, Zac Mainwaring and Jaiden Hunter delivered on the scoreboard, kicking three goals apiece, as did Subiaco duo Jack Mayo and Ryan Borchet.

Former AFL-listed players Stefan Giro (24 disposals, six tackles) and Taj Schofield (21 disposals, seven tackles, one goal) were also among Subiaco’s best.

Skipper Greg Clark (19 disposals, seven tackles) had a quieter day for his standards, but still had an impact on the game.

South Fremantle, Peel Thunder, East Perth, and Swan Districts had the bye.
