SOUTH FREMANTLE 7.6 (48) def. SUBIACO 0.5 (5)

South Fremantle have rebounded from last week’s disappointing loss in exceptional style, taking down a previously undefeated Subiaco side by 43 points.

Subiaco, who made five changes to the side, failed to kick a single goal from 29 inside 50s. This sees them slip to second place with hopes of a minor premiership looking shaky.

But the Bulldogs made the most of their opportunities up forward, having 13 scoring shots from their 25 inside 50 entries, with Shannyn Pomersbach, Jasmine Bazeley and Alira Fotu kicking two goals each.

Liusaidh Gilchrist was South Fremantle’s top ball winner, finishing with 16 disposals – all kicks, and five marks. Tahleah Mulder also played well, with 15 disposals and 12 tackles to her name.

South Fremantle’s work in the ruck was impressive, with both Charlotte Vandenberg (28 hitouts, 7 tackles, 9 disposals) and Hannah Burt (11 disposals, 18 hitouts, 11 tackles) among their best players.

For Subiaco, Paige Sheppard finished 27 disposals and 8 tackles to show for her effort, while Krstel Petrevski (27 disposals, 4 tackles) gathered plenty of the ball.

Young gun Charlotte Tompkin gave a season-best performance, finishing on 16 disposals and 3 tackles.

WEST PERTH 5.10 (40) def. PEEL THUNDER 1.1 (7)

An undermanned West Perth flexed its muscles against Peel Thunder, taking home a 33-point victory at HIF Health Insurance Oval on Saturday afternoon.

West Perth had Peel’s forward line under lock and key, limiting them to two scoring opportunities in the second and third terms, with Lucy Kane capitalising on one to kick Peel’s only goal.

Second gamer Lunay van der Heever was impressive, finishing on 19 disposals, five tackles and two goals, while Leuca Krmpotic was their other multiple goal kicker, also kicking two.

Madison Dodd (21 disposals, 3 marks) and Mia Robis (20 disposals, 5 inside 50s) also gave notable performances, while Ebony Jackson also fought hard, with 14 disposals and 7 tackles for her efforts.

Peel losing key midfielder Ebony Bilcich was a huge blow, leaving defender Cassie Davidson to step into the midfield, where she impressed with 20 disposals, 5 inside 50s and 14 tackles.

Chloe Wrigley (26 disposals, 9 tackles), Ebony Dowson (25 disposals, 4 tackles) and Krystal Carter (20 disposals, 4 tackles) also played well.

Performances from Giann Evans in the ruck (13 disposals, 20 hitouts) and Holly Bilcich (19 disposals, 5 inside 50s) are also worthy of a mention.

PERTH 2.1 (13) def by. CLAREMONT 4.10 (34)

Claremont is one game closer to securing the minor premiership after defeating Perth in a 21-point victory at Mineral Resources Park.

As Subiaco were downed by South Fremantle, Claremont remain the only undefeated team in the competition with an impressive nine-win record for the season.

Backing up last week’s win was always going to be a challenge for Perth, with a more experienced, dominant Claremont side awaiting them.

Reigning Dhara Kerr medallist Jayme Harken put up a classy display with 25 disposals and 8 tackles, while Sarah Viney provided extra support in the middle, finishing on 30 disposals and 9 tackles.

Several veterans, including Rachel Ortlepp (15 disposals, 5 tackles), Matilda Husband (13 disposals, 43 hit outs) and Kate Orme (14 disposals, 4 tackles) also played well. Savannah Muir-Thompson was the only multiple goal scorer, kicking two goals in horrific weather.

Jasmine Single backed up last weekend’s career best performance, recording 23 disposals and 4 marks, while Isabella Shannon (25 disposals, 12 tackles) battled hard to win the ball.

Meanwhile, Paige Bowers (13 disposals, 2 tackles) and Addison Opalinski (12 disposals, 3 tackles) also stood tall against the Tigers.
