This marks East Fremantle’s first loss at the newly redeveloped ground this season, previously boasting a winning three-game streak with an average margin of 43 points.

But Swan Districts were switched on from the opening bounce, kicking four goals in the opening term and defending exceptionally to hold East Fremantle to 4.10 come the final siren.

Swan Districts’ Joshua Cipro had a huge say in the win, putting up 34 disposals, 8 tackles and a goal in the dreary conditions. Fellow midfielders Jye Chalcraft and Jesse Turner also impacted the game, each finishing on 27 disposals and nine tackles.

Up forward, Jehb O’Donohue, Leigh Kohlman and Jackson McLachlan kicked two goals each.

This put West Perth straight on the back foot, unable to recover from the 39-point quarter-time deficit. Tiger Jaiden Hunter inflicted the most pain on the scoreboard, booting four goals, while Kieran Gowdie had three of his own.

Sandover Medallist Jye Bolton gathered heaps of the ball, with 32 disposals, but Ruck Oliver Eastland was most impressive with 29 disposals, 41 hit outs and five marks.

Peel’s finals hopes are on a knife’s edge as South Fremantle continues its reign of dominance this season, in a 35-point win at Lane Group Stadium.

Fans flocked to Mandurah to see two Dockers stars, Jaeger O’Meara and Michael Walters, take the field on their return from injury. Both made it through the match unscathed, with O’Meara having a busy day out, with 26 disposals and five tackles.

But Peel were dealt a huge blow, with Will Brodie ruled out of the game after the first quarter with a concussion.

Along with O’Meara, Scott Tuia (27 disposals, 7 tackles) and Quinton Narkle (26 disposals, 8 inside 50s) stepped up in Brodie’s absence, while Oscar McDonald held firm down back.

The rucks both were among their side’s best performers, with Peel’s Liam Reidy (52 hitouts, 13 disposals, 5 tackles) and South’s Hamish Free (41 hitouts, 20 disposals, one goal), delivering.

Subiaco has snapped its losing streak and produced a 10-point upset win against Sullivan Logistics Stadium co-tenants East Perth this weekend.

Despite dominant performances from several key Royals, including captain Hamish Brayshaw, who celebrated his 100th game, Subiaco were able to take advantage of East Perth’s inaccuracy to come away with the four points.
