This weekend in the WAFL, ladder leaders East Perth had a convincing win, West Perth defeated a Tim Kelly-boosted Eagles side, and South Fremantle held off a fast-finishing Swan Districts side.

Here is all the action from Round 14.

EAST PERTH 19.10 (124) def. BOORLOO 7.2 (44)

East Perth has handed Boorloo an 80-point thumping to push them up to second place on Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.

The homeside put on a midfield clinic, with Tom North leading the charge and boosting his Sandover medal credentials, amassing 32 disposals, five inside 50s and two goals.

Thomas Medhat capitalised on the Midfield’s sheer dominance and made the most of their repeated inside 50s, kicking four goals and playing one of his best games to date.

However, the Royals’ day was dampened with Liam Tedesco being stretchered off the ground after receiving a concerning knock. Until then, the mid-forward has successfully culled danger Demon Charlie Constable for most of the game.

Other notable performances came from Hamish Brayshaw (24 disposals, two goals), Jonah Brooks (22 disposals, 6 inside 50s) and Scott Jones (39 hit outs, 17 disposals).

Both Constable and Brandom Parfitt were unable to have their usual impact, leaving Matthew Taylor (27 disposals, 2 inside 50s) and Corey Byrne (20 disposals, 4 tackles) to do much of the grunt work.

Ruckman Blake Schlensog also played well, finishing on 17 disposals and 30 hit-outs.

SWAN DISTRICTS 7.10 (52) def by. SOUTH FREMANTLE 9.11 (65)

South Fremantle have made it eight straight wins after putting a defiant Swan Districts’ side away by 13 points at Steel Blue Oval.

Saturday’s win marks the end of a four-year hoodoo, winning their first game at Steel Blue Oval since 2021. But Swan District did their best to defend their turf, holding South Fremantle to 2.4 in the second half, while kicking 4.10 themselves.

It’s getting harder to overlook Matt Parker as a Sandover Medallist chance, putting on another clinical display to finish on 23 disposals, six inside 50s and two goals.

Isaiah Winder also played well, snagging five tackles and a goal to go with his 24 disposals, while captain Chad Pearson was solid down back, finishing on 18 disposals and 10 marks.

Ruck Hamish Free also dominated in the ruck to win 54 hit-outs, 13 disposals and 7 tackles.

Swans’ captain Jesse Turner was a ball magnet, accumulating 34 disposals, while Jackson McLachlan was the top goal scorer, finishing on three goals.

Teammates Jye Chalcraft (5 tackles, two goals), Aidan Clarke (4 marks, 4 inside 50s) and Joshua Cipro (5 marks, 5 tackles) also got plenty of the ball, combining for a whopping 89 disposals.

WEST PERTH 15.11 (101) def. WEST COAST 11.6 (72)

West Perth were the best of the Wests, after handing West Coast a 29-point loss on Saturday at HIF Health Insurance Oval.

The Falcons got away to a quick start, booting six goals in the first term to the Eagles’ two, and from there it was difficult for the visitors to recover.

Tim Kelly played a crucial role for West Coast after opting to play WAFL over the weekend, where he finished as his side’s best player, winning 27 disposals and two goals.

But Falcons’ young gun Kane Bevan upstaged the seasoned midfielder, accumulating 33 disposals, six tackles and three goals in a best on ground display.

Darcy Dixon (16 disposals, 6 marks) also added three goals to the tally, while Tyler Keitel (21 disposals, two goals) also played well.

Additionally, Jayden Riggoll (27 disposals, 5 inside 50s) and Aaron Black (24 disposals, 5 marks) also did plenty right on the day.

For the Eagles, Jack Petrucelle impressed with 24 disposals, 10 marks and five inside 50s, while Jayden Hunt had 21 disposals and 9 marks. Orion Kerr also played exceptionally, kicking three goals.

Claremont, Subiaco, East Fremantle and Peel Thunder had the bye.
