SportFM will be at the WACA Ground on Saturday for the first ball of the new Sheffield Shield summer when WA host NSW.
The station’s long time involvement broadcasting the competition will continue after local businesses came forward to support the station following the advice that previous state governing body funding was no longer being made available.
WA operated brands Baileys Fertiliser, Knight Health and Yagmich Wines have ensured that fans will continue to be able to access the game ensuring that no member or supporter of WA Cricket was left behind if they were unable to access Cricket Australia’s live stream.
While ongoing support from a number of already existing sponsors including Retravision, McIntosh & Son and Freightmart continue to play a pivotal role in ensuring SportFM remains able to provide this important service.
SportFM Chairman Jack Crawshaw said the station was very thankful that local business understood the importance of the service.
“SportFM has been a long-time supporter of WA Cricket and the Sheffield Shield competition providing a service that no other state has been able to achieve. The station looks forward to continuing to broadcast WA Shield matches on radio to the people of Perth and WA whether it be at the WACA or interstate.”
