Western Force prop Sef Fa’agase will play his 100th Super Rugby match on Saturday and faces his old side.
Fa’agase spent most of his career with the Queensland Reds, playing Super Rugby in two stints from 2015-18 and 2022-25 and chalked up a total of 92 games with the side.
The Force prop joined Sports Breakfast this morning.
“It’s pretty surreal to play against my former team. All that aside, I’m just hoping we get a win this weekend so we can push on to hopefully make finals,” he said.
A tough loss to the Brumbies last week set back a solid spell of performances.
“With the Brumbies coming off three losses in a row, they were really hungry. I mean, we were hungry for it, but it just didn’t go our way last weekend. But hopefully we can bounce back and take the learnings from that loss.”
“We went into the game hoping to win the middle, being physical, and I just don’t think that we matched them in the physicality through the middle there and we just gave away too many penalties which made it too easy for them to get into our 22 so hopefully we can fix that this weekend.

“I don’t think the Force has put [together] a full 80 minute performance yet even with some of the great wins that we’ve had this year. When we can get that right we can go a long way to putting some good wins together.”
The Force have been in good form recently, recording two wins over the Waratahs and Crusaders in the past month and now back in Perth for their final block of the season.
Sitting in 10th with a record of 4-7, a win this weekend of Fa’agase’s old side could bring the Force within striking distance of making a late push for finals.
“Our mindset this weekend is we’ve got a grand final to play every week from now on.”
“We’re home now for the next three weeks and I’m sure that plays a massive part in us being able to get settled and just going through our weekly routines… We’re just looking forward to getting back home in front of a sea of blue.”
Saturday’s match kicks off at 5:35pm AWST and coverage on SportFM straight after the WA v SA State Game.
