The Eagles have hit a nice patch of form mid season, winning two of their last three matches and proving they can play on a big stage.

They went into Pendlebury’s record breaking milestone match looking to spoil the party and they came close, only defeated by 10 points and playing strong in front of over 90,000 fans.

West Coast took down the Giants at home by 17 points in round 10 and a troubled Bombers side over the weekend by six goals.

Willem Duursma impressed once again in his maiden year with 25 disposals and a goal, and Milan Murdock and Jake Waterman both picked up three each.

The side now encounter a very winnable stretch over the next two to three games, playing Port this week at home and North the week after again at Optus, before heading over to Melbourne to face the Blues.

Despite wet and wild conditions over the weekend, the Eagles have given their fans confidence they are becoming competitive once again.

West Coast young gun Brady Hough joined Sports Breakfast this morning.

“I hadn’t really played in a game like that and to be honest in a game in the wet for a long time. We got pretty lucky, it didn’t actually rain too much but the wind was pretty crazy,” he said.

“We just had to adjust but I thought we did that really well which showed good maturity through the group.

“It would have definitely been in the head of a few key forwards… Jake’s [Waterman] putting himself in great positions to get that many shots on goal and we’ll back him in that he’ll be able to kick them the following week.”

Harley Reid once again put on a show, collecting 24 touches and kicking a goal of the year contender when he brushed through multiple opponents and snapped it in the second quarter.

“I reckon everyone on the [Eagles] list has probably got a don’t argue at some stage and not too many got him to the ground. It just goes to show how powerful he is and his aggression and his mindset.”

More good news for the Eagles aired yesterday with key defender Reuben Ginbey signing on until 2030.

Piers at the club admire the youngster’s maturity despite his young age making him potentially a prospect for a future captain at the club.

“He’s one you want to be playing with. You walk a bit taller with him out there and I think this year he’s pretty quickly showing that he’s one of the best key defenders in the comp.”

“He’s someone I sort of look up to even though he’s younger than me. He’s a great leader and he’s leading the way in the back line for sure… he leads by example on the field and he’s so tough, so courageous and he’s playing amazing footy at the moment getting the biggest role on the best forward week-in-week-out.”

West Coast will face Port Adelaide at Optus on Saturday at prime time – the Eagles looking to string two wins together for the first time since round 3.

The sides clashed earlier in the year in Adelaide in which the Eagles got away with a nail-biting two point win.

This time Port will come off a bye while West Coast come off a six-day break.

“Not too much will change from a game plan point of view. We have so many people that do all the homework and things like that, so we’ll be all over what they’ve been doing throughout the year.”

“I thought the standard of training has really lifted over the past few months and that’s setting us up well for game day. It was the exact same yesterday – the intensity was through the roof and the boys are just getting after it – so I feel like we’re ready to go again and can’t wait to get out there.”

Lions dual premiership player Brandon Starcevich will be making his club debut over the weekend after battling injury throughout the start of the year.

The defender has overcome a string of calf injuries and a minor ACL strain, and his experience is something the Eagles will be appreciating upon his return back west.

“He’s brought over a wealth of knowledge which he’s already put on us boys and he’s helped us learn a lot of things and just taught us about standards and things like that coming from such a successful team in Brisbane over the last few years.”

Port Adelaide and West Coast kicks off at 6:15pm this Saturday.
