Fremantle defeated Adelaide in their preseason game over the weekend, kicking 12.12.84 to the Crows’ 9.14.68.

A windy battle in Mandurah saw the score worm remain tight for the majority of the game, with the Dockers kicking with the breeze in the last quarter to run away with the win at the final siren.

Murphy Reid put on a show to further prove why he was last year’s Rising Star, leading the Dockers in disposals with 30 and playing significant time in the midfield.

Josh Treacy was one of 8 different goal scorers for Fremantle on the weekend, booting 5.0 and defender Jordan Clark also adding to the tally.

Mason Cox was tried in the ruck while Sean Darcy recovers from a calf strain, proving his worth to the Dockers’ line up with 30 hit outs.

SportFM spoke to former Docker Connor Blakely ahead of AFL’s Opening Round.

“It was a pretty professional win by them, they looked pretty sharp,” he said.

“Reid had a sensational game and played a lot of midfield minutes, the forward line was pretty potent too with Jye, Voss and Treacy so yeah, good signs.”

Another promising performance adding onto the Dockers’ domination against the Eagles in a match simulation at Cockburn has left fans with high hopes for the 2026 home and away season.

With the addition of the Wildcard Finals Round, the top 10 teams will now have a chance at glory in the AFL post season.

“There’s a sort of blanket 6 to 10 teams that can really challenge at the moment. You look at Gold Coast with Petracca, that’s going to be pretty dangerous with the list they already have and the maturity they gained over the last year with playing those two finals.”

“You’ve got Fremantle, you’ve got Collingwood – who’s still going to be up there I believe – you’ve got Geelong and obviously Brissy and lots of people talking about their chance to go back to back to back.”

“I’d say Freo would be aiming for the top 4 to get that double chance, Gold Coast the same, Brissy, Geelong, those sorts of teams.”

Opening Round kicks off on Thursday with Sydney and Carlton clashing at the SCG.

Dockers fans will have to wait to see their team in action in Round 1 when they take on Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.
