Will Collins could not have picked a better moment to kick the best goal of his career and one of the best of the WAFL season.
Swan Districts were down by 16 points approaching three-quarter time of their vital match against Claremont when the skilful defender made his mark.
Collins claimed a strong intercept mark to stop a Claremont advance, followed up his work to get a handball back from a team-mate and then drilled the goal from 50 metres.
The vital strike gave Swans valuable momentum before they held on in a thrilling finish to win the match of the day by seven points.
The goal and strong rebound work helped Collins win the Siena’s of Leederville Player of the Day for round 15.
It was one of the highlights of a contest in which veteran Tony Notte equalled Bill Walker’s club record 305 matches and captain Jesse Turner qualified for life membership with his 150th appearance.
