WEST COAST 9.4 (58) def by. EAST PERTH 18.10 (118)

East Perth has continued with its winning ways, handing West Coast a heavy 60-point loss, which has taken it to five wins for the season.

The Royals trailed 3.0 to 2.3 at quarter time, but quickly rebounded from the deficit in a dominant fashion across the board, finishing with 20 more inside 50s than the Eagles.

East Perth’s midfield was given silver service from ruck Scott Jones, who had 47 hitouts and allowed Hamish Brayshaw (25 disposals, 2 goals), Tom North (23 disposals, three tackles) and Christian Ameduri (26 disposals, 13 tackles) to dominate the contest.

Former Docker Sebit Kuek was also potent on the scoreboard, booting four goals, while Will Cassidy kicked three. Eagle Jack Williams also responded well to his AFL omission, hitting the scoreboard twice.

For West Coast, Clay Hall (29 disposals, 5 tackles) was the standout and continues to push for a return to the AFL side, as did Tyrell Dewar (25 disposals, 7 marks), who continues to find his groove again at WAFL Level.

West Coast will be sweating the fitness of Jack Petrucelle, who was benched with a shoulder injury following a second-quarter collision.

PEEL THUNDER 16.13 (109) def. WEST PERTH 9.9 (63)

Peel Thunder has produced its second win of the season, overcoming injury trouble to beat West Perth by 46 points.

In the second half, Peel were forced to play two rotations down after forward Corey Tregenza (knee) and Docker Quinton Narkle (ankle) succumbed to injuries. This didn’t deter Peel, who had five players finish on 30 or more touches.

Docker Will Brodie (35 disposals, three tackles) led the charge, despite spending time forward, while Neil Erasmus continues knocking Freo’s door down, putting up 30 disposals after being named substitute on Thursday night against Collingwood.

Jack Sears tested West Perth’s defence, kicking five goals, while Bailey Banfield and Oscar McDonald kicked three goals each.

Ben Johnson was best on for the losing side, accumulating 22 disposals and booting two goals. Zac Guadagin (20 disposals, seven marks) and Kane Bevan (19 disposals, eight marks) also provided support.

Falcon Sam Rotham was also reported for striking Peel’s Jonathon Ietto in the fourth term.

EAST FREMANTLE 13.20 (98) def. PERTH 7.8 (48)

East Fremantle have kept itself within touching distance of the top spot on the ladder after a dominant but inaccurate 50-point win against Perth.

The Sharks simply were too much for Perth to handle, with wayward goal-kicking costing them the opportunity to blow their percentage out further.

Sharks star Milan Murdock delivered yet another clinical performance, with 30 disposals and nine tackles. Cameron Eardley and Tom Joyce also gave top performances.

Meanwhile while Cody Leggett was the top scorer and was responsible for three goals. Four other players contributed two goals. Down the other end, Aaron Clarke booted three of Perth’s goals.

For Perth, Matthew Taylor can hold his head up, with 32 disposals and two tackles, while Brandon Parfitt (26 disposals, six tackles) and Charlie Constable (24 disposals, seven tackles) also gave their usual solid performances.

It was a high-pressure affair, with many spotfires and melees throughout the day. Jono Marsh was also reported for rough conduct twice against James Preston-Coates and Elijah Scoble in the second half.

CLAREMONT 7.9 (51) def. SOUTH FREMANTLE 10.8 (68)

South Fremantle have responded to last weekend’s shock defeat against West Coast, keeping a fired-up Tigers’ outfit at bay, coming away with a 17-point win.

It was a rapid-fire five-goal effort in the second quarter that gave South Fremantle the upper hand heading into the second half. But in the final quarter, the margin dwindled to as little as eight points, the Bulldogs overcoming the brief comeback.

Isiah Winder was monumental in getting the Bulldogs over the line, with 24 disposals and two goals. Tom Blechynden (29 disposals, seven inside 50s) and Jake Florenca (29 disposals, nine tackles) also offered plenty of support.

Trey Ruscoe booted three goals, while Brandon Donaldson and Edward Graham booted two each, along with Winder. For the home side, Samuel Alvarez and Talon Delacey kicked two each.

Star Jye Bolton was Claremont’s strongest performer with 33 touches, plus four marks and tackles. Bailey Rogers (27 disposals, four inside 50s) was also reliable as usual.

SUBIACO 9.4 (58) def by. SWAN DISTRICTS  20.13 (133)

Swan Districts has finally broken the drought and recorded their first win of 2025, smashing Subiaco by 75 points at Leederville Oval.

After losing the first five rounds, Swan Districts got over the line emphatically, recording the highest score and winning margin of round six.

But the win came at the cost of star midfielder Zane Trew, who went down with an ankle injury during the second quarter, with concerns it may be a fracture.

Aiden Clarke and Jye Chalcraft both delivered a masterclass on Saturday evening, both finishing with 39 disposals each, and combined for six marks and tackles, and eight inside 50s.

Captain Jesse Turner (31 disposals, six tackles) was also impressive, while Sebastian Bright lit up the scoreboard with four goals.

Opposition captain Greg Clark (32 disposals, seven inside 50s) was once again best on for Subiaco, despite conceding six frees against. Forward Archer May kicked four majors, while Jack Mayo (27 hitouts, 21 disposals) was solid in the ruck.

Adding to Subiaco’s pain, midfielders Will Hickmott and Taj Schofield were both benched with hamstring concerns during the match.
