SUBIACO 4.6 (30) drew. CLAREMONT 4.6 (30)

The highly anticipated battle between the undefeated Subiaco and Claremont sides has ended in a draw after a tight battle across the four quarters. 

Both sides were without several star players, including Subiaco’s Dana Hooker and Maggie McLachlan who have started AFLW preseason, while Claremont missed dual Dhara Kerr medalist Jayme Harkin and former Eagle Sasha Goranova. 

But that had little impact as both sides scrapped it out, with Subiaco leading at half time, only for Claremont to kick three goals and take the advantage into the final term. 

Lisa Steane backed up her best-on State Game performance with a 21-disposal, 10-tackle effort, while Krstel Petrevski’s (24 disposals, five tackles) fine form continued. Forward Olivia Wolmarans also snagged two goals.

For the Tigers, Matilda Sergeant was their best with 22 disposals and seven marks, while Mackenzie Webb (17 disposals, six tackles) was also solid. Both Sarah Viney and Juliet Kelly also applied plenty of defensive pressure, laying an impressive 17 tackles each. 

EAST PERTH 3.6 (24) def by. PEEL THUNDER 6.9 (45)

Peel Thunder has secured its second win for the season, beating East Perth 45-24 at Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Saturday. 

Throughout the year, Peel shows its competitiveness, but it hasn’t quite been enough to get them over the line. While East Perth was also hungry, Peel was simply hungrier and led right from the start. 

Peel’s experience simply shone through in the midfield, with Chloe Wrigley (36 touches, five tackles) and Gracie Fenton (29 touches, five marks) dominating around the ground. 

Meanwhile, Tiama Collard (19 disposals, eight tackles) and Krystal Carter (16 disposals, 3 inside 50s) kept East Perth’s defence busy, booting two goals each. 

Sara Elly (25 disposals, six marks) and Jess Verbrugge (19 disposals, six tackles) were highlights for the Royals in the defeat, as was Mia Pappas (16 disposals, six marks). 

SWAN DISTRICTS 5.7 (47) def. PERTH 4.4 (28)

Swan Districts continues putting itself in the premiership conversation after winning its fourth game on the trot against a winless Perth outfit.

AFLW Draft prospect Carys D’Addario’s incredible run of form continued, finishing on 22 disposals and six tackles, while Tamzyn Beros, who replaced Lauren Quaife, was strong in the ruck with 16 hitouts, nine tackles and 10 disposals. 

Although Perth is still searching for its elusive first win, they can be positive about their final score of 28 – their second highest score and a telltale sign of improvement. 

Demons’ co-captains Isabella Shannon (31 disposals, seven tackles) and Holly Britton (23 disposals, four inside 50s) continue leading the way, finishing as the two highest disposal getters for the match.  

Swan Districts’ Emily McGuire also delivered up forward, kicking two goals, as did Mel Grace for Perth. 

WEST PERTH 3.10 (28) def. EAST FREMANTLE 2.1 (13)

It was another win for West Perth over the weekend, with the Falcons taking a 15-point win over East Fremantle in a low-scoring clash in Joondalup.

But it was nearly a different story, with West Perth creating more scoring opportunities, but kicking an inaccurate 0.6 to 1.1 to trail at three-quarter time.

However, Lexi Strachan and Jamarah Walley combined for three goals in the final term to put West Perth in front, while their defence held strong, preventing East Fremantle from entering their forward 50.

Former Eagles Defender Emily Bennett was the Falcons’ best, with 23 disposals and five tackles, while ruck Cara Dziegielewski (17 disposals, 27 hit outs, nine tackles) was also outstanding. 

East Fremantle’s top disposals getters – Leanne Gubbins, Maya Louvel and Cienna Leslie all got 17 each and combined for nine marks and 12 tackles. 

The Sharks only managed to enter their forward 50 seven times, compared to the Falcons’ 47 entries. Alicia Blizard and Eve Wilson-Sieber were their two goal scorers. 

South Fremantle had the bye this week.
