NAIDOC Round 2026 kicked off on Friday night under the lights with West Coast taking on East Fremantle at Mineral Resources Park.

The Sharks burst out the gates strong and held a two goal lead heading into the second half, but a six goal third term saw the Eagles put their noses in front – a further five in the final term helped them pull away.

Matt Flynn was dominant in the ruck with 52 hit outs to help the Eagles record 40 more taps than East Fremantle.

Harry Schoenberg was best on ground for the Eagles picking up 28 touches and also slotting two goals.

The win puts West Coast up into seventh while the Sharks drop down to eighth with a third straight loss.

Peel Thunder 8.11 (59) def. Claremont 8.8 (56)

The Thunder stole a top two clash from Claremont’s grasp with a goal after the siren from Aiden Riddle.

The Tigers gave Peel a fright in the second quarter kicking 5.2 to 0.4 to give themselves a 22 point lead going into the second half.

Dockers listees played a strong part in today’s win – Corey Wagner had 29 disposals, six inside 50s and a goal while Bailey Banfield had 28, 10 marks, six entries and also had scoreboard impact with a major.

Zac Mainwaring had an admirable game for Claremont despite the loss – he notched up 18 disposals and had 11 tackles amid four goals.

Peel now make that eight wins in a row and sit four points clear from the rest of the competition in first.

South Fremantle 10.13 (73) def. Subiaco 11.6 (72)

South Fremantle held off a late surge from Subiaco to come away with a one point win on Saturday.

The Lions struggled to find a goal after a 4.1 first term, kicking 0.4 for the next two quarters before bringing the intensity in the final term with 9.1

Jack Florenca stood out with 26 disposals, four marks, two tackles and five inside 50 entries.

Matthew Parker put in work for the Dogs with 21 touches and a goal – he was one of seven goal kickers led by Kyle Russell who picked up three majors.

The win puts South Fremantle into third while Subiaco drop down to sixth.

East Perth 15.13 (103) def. Perth 8.4 (52)

East Perth controlled all four quarters in their match against the Demons, powering their way home to a 51-point victory.

Tyler Lindberg was best on ground with 25 disposals and two goals – he also took four marks and four tackles and provided 12 inside 50 entries for the Royals.

He was one of five multiple goal scorers for the victors – Thomas Graham and Mitchell Schofield led with three majors each.

Demons ruck duo Zac Harding and Joshua Edwards proved commanding despite the loss, the pair combining for 50 hit outs to win the ruck contest.

The Royals move up to fourth with the win while the Demons snap a three game win streak and fall to fifth.

West Perth 9.12 (66) def by. Swan Districts 13.13 (91)

Swan Districts snap a three game losing streak with a 25-point victory over West Perth on Saturday.

It was a close game at the start with Swan Districts only leading by three points heading into the second quarter – kicking five unanswered goals before half time saw the visitors break the game open.

Jesse Turner got busy in the midfield with 32 touches, but Chase Loftus stole the show with 25 disposals and two goals.

Leigh Kohlmann was the leading goal kicker of the day – he had four for the Swans.

Shane Nelson put on an impressive performance for the Falcons – he had 23 touches, six marks and a goal.
