This weekend in the WAFL, Perth and East Fremantle continued consolidating their place in finals. At the same time, Claremont secured a significant percentage boost as the race for a top two finish heats up.

Here is all the action from Round 15.

PERTH 13.7 (85) def. SWAN DISTRICTS 10.12 (72)

A battle-worn Perth side has inched closer to September, securing a thrilling come-from-behind win against Swan Districts at Mineral Resources Park.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Demons after losing Oscar Hine-Baston (leg) and Brodie McLean (knee) to significant injuries before half time.

The tone was set early, with both sides scrapping away throughout the first half to be within four points of each other, before the Swans leapt ahead in the third quarter.

But the Demons got the job done, booting five goals in the final quarter, with two of Zack Derksen’s four goals sealing the deal.

Blake Schlensog continues to peak at the right time, also snagging a four-goal haul, along with 18 disposals and 10 marks. Matt Taylor and Brandan Parfitt also played well, both finishing with a game-high 28 disposals.

Swans stalwarts Jesse Turner (27 disposals, 5 inside 50s) and Jye Chalcraft (26 disposals, 4 tackles) led the midfield charge, while Leigh Kohlmann contributed three goals up forward.

Other notable performances belonged to Nathan Blakely (23 disposals, 18 hit-outs) and Jehb O’Donohue (19 disposals, 7 tackles).

EAST FREMANTLE 12.14 (86) def. PEEL THUNDER 11.10 (76)

East Fremantle continues to keep its finals chances afloat after surviving a second-half surge from Peel Thunder at Shark Park.

The contest teetered back and forth all day, despite East Fremantle blazing away in the first half to kick eight goals, keeping the reigning premiers to four.

But the tide changed in the second half, where Peel kicked seven goals in an attempt to stage a remarkable comeback, but they fell short by 10 points in the end.

Star Shark Milan Murdock impressed all day, winning 22 disposals, along with seven tackles and six inside 50s. Kyle Baskerville (25 disposals, 4 tackles) and Jarrad Jansen (24 disposals, one goal)  also offered plenty of support.

Meanwhile, Jack Cleaver (21 disposals, 11 tackles) and Jono Marsh (16 points, 6 inside 50s) also played well, and were two of five Sharks to boot two goals.

AFL-listed ruck Liam Reidy absolutely dominated, finishing on 48 hit-outs, 20 disposals and six tackles, while Isiah Dudley (19 disposals, two goals) ran rampant up forward.

Peel’s midfield benefited from this silver service, with Neil Erasmus (21 disposals, 5 inside 50s) and Will Brodie (21 disposals, 10 tackles) both playing well.

CLAREMONT 18.14 (122) def. SUBIACO 5.5 (35)

Claremont’s campaign for a top-two finish stayed alive after handing Subiaco an 87-point belting at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.

It was sheer dominance from siren to siren from Claremont, who set the tone early and kept the visitors to one point at quarter time and kicked 34 points themselves.

Subiaco fought gallantly in the second term to kick four goals, but the damage was already done, and only managed one goal to Claremont’s ten in the second half.

Claremont as a whole had a case of leather poisoning, with no player finishing on single digits for disposals. Jye Bolton had the strongest case, winning a round-high 35 disposals along with nine marks and eight inside 50s.

Not far behind him were the usual suspects, Callan England and Bailey Rogers, who had a combined 60 disposals, 17 marks, and three goals.

Meanwhile, Talon Delacey wreaked havoc up forward, booting four goals, while Jaiden Hunter and Kieran Gowdie kicked three apiece.

Subiaco’s midfield battled all day, with Stefan Giro (26 disposals, four marks), Liam Hickmott (22 disposals, 10 tackles) and Taj Schofield (20 disposals, 9 inside 50s) among their best. Jack Mayo also kicked two goals in the loss.

West Coast, East Perth, South Fremantle, and West Perth had the bye.
