Round 3 kicked off on Friday night under the lights of Sullivan Logistics Stadium, with East Perth knocking over Claremont in a thrilling comeback victory.
Claremont put themselves in the box seat to win early on, kicking four unanswered goals in the first term and leading at the end of every break. However, the Royals kicked four goals to Claremont’s one in the final quarter to remain undefeated and retain top spot on the ladder.
Claremont’s Jye Bolton finished with an outstanding 33 disposals and seven marks, while Callan England (30 disposals, five tackles, eight marks) was also a strong performer.
Ruck heavyweights Oliver Eastland (41 hit outs, 15 disposals, eight tackles) and Scott Jones (36 hit outs, 16 disposals, four marks) went head-to-head in a thrilling battle, and were also top performers for their respective sides.
For the home side, Stanley Wright, Tom North, and Hamish Brayshaw were all instrumental in securing victory, while second-gamer Will Cassidy laid an impressive 10 tackles and booted a goal.
PEEL THUNDER 6.5 (41) def by. EAST FREMANTLE 15.13 (103)
East Fremantle delivered a dominant second-half performance, thrashing the reigning premiers on their home turf by 62 points.
The visitors were a handful for Peel’s defence down in Mandurah, piling on 11 goals to four in the second half and finishing with 17 more scoring opportunities.
East Freo trio Harrison Marsh, Jarrad Janson and Mitchell Zadow each booted three goals, while Tom Joyce (33 disposals, four tackles) and Kyle Baskerville (31 disposals, four tackles) were strong contributors.
Dockers Quinton Narkle (37 disposals, seven inside 50s) and Corey Wagner (28 disposals, five tackles) were Peel’s top performers, while ruck Liam Reidy amassed an impressive 52 hit-outs. Jack Delean and Corey Tregenza also slotted two goals apiece for the Thunder.

Perth’s strong start to the season continued, defeating Mineral Resources co-tenants West Coast by 36 points in a second-half blitz.
It was anyone’s game at the main break, but Perth came out firing to outscore West Coast 58-23.
Former Geelong teammates Charlie Constable (35 disposals, five marks) and Brandon Parfitt (26 disposals, four tackles) teamed up to deliver strong performances for the Demons, while Riley Wills also impressed with 28 touches, five marks and six inside 50s.
Forward Aaron Clarke was damaging on the scoreboard, booting seven goals, while Lochlan Paton finished with a four-goal haul.
For West Coast, Tom Cole gave a resilient 34-disposal performance after being dropped from the AFL side, while defender Rhett Bazzo contributed 27 touches and eight marks.
In terms of other AFL-listed players, Clay Hall, Harvey Johnston, Bo Allan and Lucca Grego were all among the Eagles’ top ball winners, while Jobe Shanahan, Loch Rawlinson and Malakai Champion kicked two goals each.

A dead-eyed Bulldogs side continued their undefeated start to 2025, beating Swan Districts at Fremantle Oval on Saturday afternoon, despite having fewer scoring opportunities.
South Fremantle kicked 11.3, while inaccurate kicking proved costly for Swan Districts, who kicked 8.10, and are still searching for their first win of 2025. Trey Ruscoe kicked five of South Freo’s goals and had a further three inside 50s, while Jake Florenca (28 disposals, seven tackles) and Ethan Hughes (25 disposals, six marks) were both prolific through the middle.
For the Swans, Jye Chalcraft led the way with 29 disposals and seven tackles, while Joshua Cipro and Jesse Turner also were among the top ball winners, and both contributed a goal each. Benjamin Hewett and Evan Smith also kicked two goals each.
SUBIACO 6.8 (44) def by. WEST PERTH 16.8 (104)
West Perth cruised to a comfortable 60-point win over Subiaco, with danger duo Tyler Keitel and Keegan Knott wreaking havoc up forward.
The reigning Bernie Naylor Medallist kicked five majors against Subiaco, while Knott and wingman Joseph Hinder added three and two goals respectively. Meanwhile, Captain Luke Meadows played well, finishing with 35 disposals and four marks, as did Shane Nelson (29 disposals, one goal, six marks) and Ben Johnson (28 disposals, four marks).
For Subiaco, Liam Hickmott, Stefen Giro and Taj Schofield stood tall and collected plenty of the ball. Up forward, Ryan Borchet was the only multiple goalkicker, booting three of Subiaco’s six goals.
