Subiaco 4.5 (29) def by. Swan Districts 4.9 (33)

Subiaco hosted Swan Districts to kick off round 9 in the WALFW, losing a close game to the ladder leaders by four points.

After a three-point margin at half time, the home side booted two goals to get ahead of the Swans heading into the final term.

While inaccurate throughout the match the visitors were accurate when it mattered most, kicking 2.0 in the last quarter to secure a close win. 

Subiaco midfield due Paige Sheppard and Krstel Petrevksi were best on ground, both picking up 35 touches – Swan Districts’ Jaime Henry kept unusually quiet with just 19 for the day.

The Lions now drop to fifth after recording their second loss in a row.

East Fremantle 5.3 (33) def. South Fremantle 4.8 (32)

The Sharks were victorious in the Fremantle Derby, beating the Bulldogs in a thriller by one point at home on Friday night.

East Fremantle controlled the first half, heading into the break up by two goals, an it was inaccuracy that stopped the Dogs from running over the top of the home side,

Only scoring a major one in every three scoring shots, South Fremantle struggled to get ahead – Annalie Polimeno picked up the most goals with two.

Kate Newson and Charline Vandenberg combined for 49 hit outs, helping South Fremantle dominate the midfield – Natasha Entwistle (24 disposals, 3 marks, 8 tackles, 3 inside 50s), Madison Evans (22 disposals, 1 mark, 3 tackles) and Tahlaed Mudler (21 disposals, 1 mark, 11 tackles, 6 inside 50s) did the most work for the visitors.

East Fremantle remain in third after their sixth win in a row – South Fremantle dropping down to seventh.

West Perth 8.6 (54) def. East Perth 4.0 (24)

West Perth defeated the Royals to take out the Perth Derby on Saturday – a six-goal deficit jumping the Falcons up to fourth.

East Perth struggled to create opportunities for themselves throughout the match despite 23 inside 50 entries, but they were 100% accurate in front of goals despite only four scoring shots.

Brooke Edwards and Meg Brown gelled well in the middle for the visitors – Brown notching up 26 disposals and Edwards hitting it out 31 times.

Ellee McEvoy stood out for the Falcons with 27 touches, four marks, three tackles and two entries while Sophie Fisher was able to provide seven entries for the home side.

Sabreena McKinnon and Katherine Bennett did most of the scoreboard damage, adding three and two goals respectively to the Falcons’ tally.

Claremont 6.4 (40) def. Perth 2.5 (17)

Claremont took out a commanding win over Perth on Sunday, battling a storm to get over the line by 23 points.

The Demons struggled to find goals, remaining goalless until the last quarter.

Kelly Juliet put on a clinic, racking up 47 disposals and producing 10 inside 50 entries for the Tigers while Jayme Harken got 35 touches and hit the scoreboard with a goal.

Isabella Shannon led the Demons with 24 disposals, also slotting a major to be one of the two goalkickers for Perth.

Claremont stay in second while Perth drop down to sixth.
