Perth jump up into sixth following a narrow victory over Subiaco on Saturday.

After a slow start the Lions kicked themselves back into the contest, only down by four points at half time and five heading into the final term.

Molly Warne was dominant in the ruck with 35 hit outs, helping teammates like Amy Trindade and Isabella Shannon get to work in the midfield – Shannon was one of five goal kickers for the visitors.

Paige Sheppard played her heart out until the final siren for Subiaco – she racked up 38 touches along with five marks, eight tackles and two entries.

The loss puts the Lions down into seventh ahead of their clash with East Fremantle next week who sit in third.

Swan Districts 7.4 (46) def. East Perth 4.6 (30)

Swan Districts battled their way back from a scoreless first quarter to take a 16-point victory over East Perth in front of a home crowd.

The home side gave themselves more scoring opportunities despite less entries – accuracy proving the difference on the day.

Jaime Henry was kept quiet with 21 disposals but made her impact on the game through her tackle pressure – she laid 12 tackles.

Taylah Edwards and Ashley Sharp lead the way in the forward line with two goals each for the Swans.

Lucy Greenwood was best on ground for the Royals – she had 22 touches, three marks and seven tackles and provided four entries.

South Fremantle 6.3 (39) def. West Perth 5.6 (36)

South Fremantle held on for a win over West Perth at home on Saturday, moving them up into the top four while the Falcons drop down to fifth.

The Dogs lead at the end of the first term 2.0 to 1.0, but the Falcons kept them scoreless in the second to lead by three points going into the second half.

South Fremantle got away in the third quarter with 3.3 to 0.2 but West Perth remained competitive and kicked 3.1 in the final term to get within striking distance – a goal from the Bulldogs allowed them to hold on to win at the final siren.

Ellee McEvoy stood out for the Falcons with 23 disposals and a major.

The Dogs’ ruck duo of Kate Newson and Charlie Vandenberg combined for 50 hit outs, but it was Tahleah Mulder who was best on ground with 23 disposals, five marks, eight tackles and a goal.

Peel Thunder 5.4 (34) def by. Claremont 13.10 (88)

Midfield control was the story of the day in Claremont’s presiding win over Peel Thunder on the road, taking down the hosts by 54 points.

Matilda Husband was dominant in the ruck contest with 42 hit outs, while Jayme Harken had leather poisoning as she notched up 40 touches.

Megan Green was lethal with her scoreboard pressure, taking 26 touches and three goals – Bec Anderson and Jacinta Valentini also both scoring three majors.

Despite only six less entries, the home side recorded 14 less scoring shots as the Tigers defence made it difficult to penetrate – Peel scoring 27% of the time they entered their forward 50 compared to 58% for the victors.

Peel Thunder are yet to get a win under their belts in 2026.
